What's is the Open Edition (OE)
Open Edition (OE) is a high-quality copy of an original piece printed with archival ink and paper chosen for the particular works. Generally smaller than the original piece and at a lower cost, as it is an open edition which means it is unlimited. The cost reflects current printing costs and a small admin free to make this possible. I wanted the artwork to be available to as many people as possible without affecting the price of the original artwork and the larger cost of traditional printing. This is why we created the Open Edition version.
What's is the Special Edition (SE)
Special Edition (SE) is an original Digital Artwork’s such as a drawing or photograph printed to a limited edition with archival ink and paper printed at its true size.
In some special cases a special edition of an original piece will be published alongside the original piece and the open edition.
Depending on the size of the edition, the physical size of the print and the availability of the work this dictates the price. With that in mind Special Editions are more expensive than Open Editions.
(All Artwork arrives straight from the printers with authenticity paperwork)
What's is the Original Print (OP)
Original Print (OP) is a traditional printed artwork. Printed by David on his 19th-century presses at his print studio Dekkle. Digital artworks and photographs would also come under original prints and selected digital works, normally smaller limited editions than Special Edition.
Traditional prints are hand printed specially to your order, hand stamped and signed by David, at his studio in Baldock, England. There is normally a one-to-2-week turnaround depending on the artwork being ordered. But please contact David if you want a precise lead time before ordering.
Digital original prints are sent to David from his digital printers to hand signed and post directly to you.
What's is the Original Piece
Original Piece is a one-off Artwork, for example a pencil drawing and Pen and Ink on calfskin vellum, these hold the highest value as they are individual pieces and the rarest of David’s work.
