“PHONETICALLY SPEAKING” To reflect the fast pace of world news, my blog is probably best served as a stream-of-consciousness text. Fast and unadulterated. With this approach, and on first encounter, text might not seem to scan. This is because I am dyslexic. Instead of keeping the proof-readers busy, I would rather let my blog updates of my visual work stand as a record of my experience of dyslexia, which I am keen that you now get to enjoy too. Unlike some news outlets, I hereby excuse myself the need for a ‘corrections’ section! The excitement of a new language is something I’m quite familiar with, and it is with this ‘joie de vivre’ that I am delighted to guide you through my thought and work processes, more phonetically (than fanatically) speaking.
Grenfell!
Grenfell Fire, a predictable crime waiting to happen. Cross-party agreement, as campaigners for years have been exposing the flaws in the safety of these towers across London. There is no excuse and MPs and other government officials need to be held accountable, with a maximum prison sentence, a unbelievable disastrous failing of public duty.
It’s not often that I am taken back to shivers watching a mobile phone footage of inside of a fire engine rushing towards the tower in the distance on their blues and twos. When the firefighters first see the tower on fire in the distance, they are in disbelief that is even possible for this to happen. Experience firefighters cannot comprehend this as a possibility even though this is the reality they are rushing towards. Their reaction clearly shows they are not trained for this and definitely put it into some context for me.
The cover-up started straight away especially around the number of fatalities, firefighters coming out saying room after room jampacked of people trying to stay together for safety, police officers accidentally telling reporters larger numbers than the official line, United Nations put the death toll of 72 first and four days later the British government copied the 72 number.
There would have been a lot of Muslim migrants, who perished that dreadful night who was uncounted in the official death toll.
A mother dropped their baby out of the window on the ninth or eighth floor and incredibly a man run forward and caught the baby safely. We don’t know what happened to the mother.
Lily Allen bravely lay the blame straight onto MP and incredibly outspoken on the official numbers being completely underrepresented with the number of children fatalities. Then John Snow who is interviewing her explains that you can only count as a fatality if you can be identified.
Not much hope for the inquest and good luck to find a judge who is willing to run it.
