The Loss of Marbles

“The loss of marbles, a damning triptych portraying society’s dismal response to the 2019 world pandemic, stands as a searing testament to the profound callousness of the elite. The marbles, delicate symbols of our fragile world, starkly depict how swiftly it crumbled under the weight of an unseen yet cataclysmic force. This virus, a harbinger of anguish and despair, has ruthlessly altered the lives of millions, sparing none and inflicting colossal disruption, devastation, and agony. Each glass marble is a somber emblem of our vulnerability, serving as a harsh reminder of the relentless power of human resilience in the face of this global catastrophe—a catastrophe worsened by the insidious influence of the privileged elite.
The first piece, ‘Gulf Stream,’ encapsulates the ferocity and unpredictability of the pandemic’s impact. The marbles within a tempestuous sea of chaos symbolize the turbulent times, where the elite steer their ships, unscathed by the storm, while the masses drown in uncertainty.
In ‘Strahlströmung,’ the second piece, the marbles are caught in a relentless current of suffering, mirroring the unrelenting spread of the virus. The elite, shielded by their ivory towers, navigate these currents with impunity, indifferent to the suffering they perpetuate among the vulnerable.
Lastly, ‘Aurora Australis,’ the final piece, portrays a mesmerizing yet somber display of colors. The marbles, akin to the lights in the sky, flicker in a dance of despair. It serves as a haunting reminder of the losses endured by the world, losses that could have been mitigated if not for the reckless greed and apathy of the privileged few.
Society, blissfully unaware of the sinister game being played, remains the unwitting pawn. But the game of marbles is ancient, and the elite have ruthlessly exploited their advantage for over 3000 years. The year 2019 was just another opportunity for them, an opportunity they grabbed with a silver spoon in hand, ensuring it didn’t go to waste. Their insatiable greed and disregard for humanity have fueled a crisis of their own making, leaving the world grappling with the consequences of their callous actions. It’s a tragedy that the very fabric of our world is held captive in the hands of those who care not for its well-being but only for their own power and opulence.”
